Swim Safe
Swim Safe is a fun and free water safety activity for children, created by Swim England and the RNLI.
Each year, children account for around two-thirds of the incidents RNLI Lifeguards deal with on UK beaches - a number which the charity would like to reduce through better education about coastal safety. The RNLI runs vital coastal safety education initiatives and offers free education resources for school.
How about having presentation for your school/ youth or community group either at the Lifeboat station or within your own environment? The RNLI is committed to helping young people stay safe when on or about the water. Our comprehensive education program focuses on the RNLI's lifesaving work as a charity and on beach and sea safety, as well as lifeboats in general.
Enjoy a visit to our station or have us come to your own location. Presentations are delivered by experienced RNLI Lifeguards or Lifeboat Crew and topics can include rescues carried out in the local area, history of the RNLI and what its principles are. The highlight of a station visit is the chance to look over the lifeboats whilst on shore with the crew who actually go to sea. You never know, the lifeboat may actually get a call whilst you are at the station. In some cases it is possible to have a visit when the crew are taking the lifeboat out on an exercise so the launching process can be experienced for yourselves. Groups of most sizes and all ages can be covered.
