RNLI Jersey had its first ever all female inshore lifeboat exercise tonight.

During a routine Wednesday night exercise The Spirit of St Helier was crewed by local volunteers Fleur, Katie C, Katie H and Abbi. While at sea, the crew expanded their search planning skills by practicing search patterns, decision authority and on scene considerations and strategies.

Only 12% of RNLI volunteers across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands are women, so tonight was a unique opportunity and a proud moment for all the crew.

We hope to continue making history, breaking boundaries and inspiring future generations of female crew members.
