Emergency Services Day in the 200th year of the RNLI

The 9th September 2024 marks Emergency Services Day (999 Day) in the 200th year of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).
Supported by HM The King, HRH The Prince of Wales, the Prime Minister, and the First Ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, 999 Day is a national day across the United Kingdom which is dedicated to honouring the heroic men and women of the emergency services.
In Jersey, the RNLI has brought together this exceptional team of emergency services to celebrate their invaluable contributions. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of teamwork and dedication in keeping our community safe.
The collaborative photoshoot is very much in keeping with the key themes for the RNLI’s Bi-Centenary:
Inspire: Encouraging the next generation to join and support the emergency services.
Commemorate: Honouring the legacy and sacrifices of past and present emergency service personnel.
Celebrate: Recognising the achievements and milestones of the RNLI and other emergency services.
Emergency Services Day is an opportunity for the public to show their support and appreciation for the dedication and bravery of our emergency services personnel. It serves to educate the public on the responsible use of emergency services, basic lifesaving skills, and the various career and volunteering opportunities available within the sector.
Volunteers in Jersey play a crucial role in the emergency services family, working alongside paid personnel to contribute significantly to the safety and well-being of our community. Their combined commitment, selflessness and professionalism are truly commendable.
